Personal Statement

Our lives are stories meant to be told in full. It is in the telling of our “unfiltered” stories that we can begin to see things as they truly are and then work towards growth, change and self-restoration.  I believe everyone needs a safe, non-judgmental and comfortable space to explore the interior and exterior world. By telling our story we become self-actualized people who can move forward in life with authentic confidence.

I recently received my Master’s in Counseling from Belmont University where I was trained in traditional talk therapy with an emphasis on compassion, empathy and social justice. I have experience working with people of all backgrounds and have learned from the process of helping people move through pain and towards joy. I am a lifelong musician and spent over a decade working in Nashville’s vibrant music industry, and I have a deep appreciation for the power music and creativity can have on self-expression and emotional regulation.  Music and art often help us express things we otherwise don’t know how to say. I believe that art and creative therapy techniques are amazing catalysts to help ground our emotions in the present.
